Santa Fe 2: The Lodging

We stayed at Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Health Spa, up on the road to the Ski Area. I've been going to the hot tubs there for over a decade now, but they started offering lodging a while back and it kicks so much ass you start to worry that it might sprain its ankle.

Everything cool about 10KW's operation is there in spades for the Houses Of The Moon. The Japanese and New Mexican influences blend surprisingly well; both cultures get it in the comfort and simplicity departments. I've never felt more relaxed; going from a long soak in a 110-degree hot tub to a cozy platform bed without a 75-minute drive in-between is effing decadent. Almost makes me wish I had a shot at some IPO money so I could winter there. And watching the sun come up over the mountains in the morning -- yowza.

Amy seemed to like her cold noodle salad. And yes, that is an Odwalla bottle on the table. Santa Fe is kind of an oasis of trendoid health-cult BS, so "When in Rome..." (Actually, in that respect it's really not all that different from San Francisco.)

To Odwalla's lawyers' relief, no G.I. distress was reported.
