As far as can be determined, it's available only as a freebie
when you subscribe to the Dark Star fanzine. The music was
also used in the Space Movie soundtrack (1979) and was supposed to
appear on the soundtrack LP but quantities pressed of this are
      allegedly in the single digits.]

	  5:47	Punkadiddle
	  4:43	I Got Rhythm
[Most versions mislabeled as including "Sally"]

Notes: Richard Branson forced the reworking of this album's B-side,
calling "Sally" "too boisterous". About 30,000-40,000 copies
of the original pressing exist. Most pressings list "Sally"
on the sleeve and disc but have "Into Wonderland" instead.

"Sally" and "Into Wonderland" share the same drum track, but
"Sally" has the lyrics: "Sally, I'm just a gorilla / I'll say
I love you evermore / Even an ape from Manila / Couldn't stop me
	knocking at your door".

The only difference between the 4:56 and 5:47 versions of
"Punkadiddle" is 0:50 of live material at the beginning of the
longer version. They are otherwise identical, including the crowd
noise. (Morten Due Jorgensen (mdj@login.dknet.dk) claims that this
0:50 is actually a leftover from "Sally".)

[About the CD-Rom track: "The first track is a Macintosh multimedia
application, over 60 megs in size, which uses full-screen QuickTime
movies to take you through a futuristic city and into the mouth of a
spaceship. After making your way down a passageway, you take a seat
in a large viewing chamber, where you must solve a simple puzzle to
gain further access. You are then presented with a menu from which
you can watch a 90-second music video of Mike playing guitar against
a moving starfield (very nice), an exploding nova, or Mike in the ship's
hibernation chamber, where he has a few words for you. The tour is
entertaining for only 10-15 minutes, but makes a great addition to
     the album." -- Cliff Tuel]

::: Television and Live Appearances ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Oldfield: Orchestral Tubular Bells television appearance [1974]

TV:	1974 UK (BBC2: "Second House")
[Featuring Steve Hillage instead of Mike Oldfield]

	Conductor: David Bedford
	Lead Soloist: Steve Hillage
	Missing In Action: Mike Oldfield
Broadcast on BBC2's "Second House" show

When David Bedford was all set to perform The Orchestral Tubular
Bells for BBC television at the Royal Albert Hall back in the
mid-70s, apparently bedford and oldfield had a MAJOR falling out.
	Much was said...

Bedford ended up booting Oldfield out of the show and/or Oldfield
refused to perform (it's one or the other).

Bedford, in desperate need of filling oldfield's shoes for the gig
recruited Steve Hillage instead, who gave a supposedly spectacular
performance. So, Mike Oldfield's work was performed without him!
A classic tale to be sure.

::: Notes On Various Album Mixes :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tubular Bells album mix notes

Since its original release in 1973, the TUBULAR BELLS album has been
issued at least four distint versions: the original mix, the picture-disc
remix, the quadrophonic remix, and the mix on the vinyl version of BOXED.
Virgin hasn't kept track of mixes very well, so several albums (including
TB) are available in different versions on different releases, with no
clue on the cover as to which mix the release comprises. This is
especially problematic on the CD reissues. The following information on
how to spot the different mixes has been culled from AIRBORNE, the Mike
  Oldfield fanclub magazine:

  V2001 - Original release.

VP2001 - Picture disc. "Using a stereo remix from the quad version
included in Boxed. Original copies soon ran out and later pressings
all feature a peculiar model airplane noise at the end of one side."
    (AIRBORNE, Issue 4, 1988)

QV2001 - Quad version. Had a sticker on the front saying 'for people
with 4 ears' and an instruction on the back to store it' in four dry
    places'.

BOXED - A second quad version. (LP only.)

How to tell which one is which (AIRBORNE, Issue 13, 1990):

"In a previous article I hinted that the boxed set CD may contain the
original mix of TB and not the remix done for the set and subsequent
pressings of this LP. Firstly the remix is longer by some 33 seconds
where Phil Newell has repeated a couple of sections - the Nasal Chorus
is extended by nearly 10 seconds. Apart from the length there are
some changes made to the positioning of the instruments in the stereo
field; for Part 1 the following changes are made:

    TIME ORIGINAL MIX REMIX
    ------ ------------------------------ ----------------------------
      0:06 Glockenspiel middle left
      2:00 Acoustic guitar left central
4:11 Mandolin central, no flute mandolin left, flute right,
      7:34 extra guitar on right
      9:54 piano more prominent central
11:00 Guitar left, Flageolet right Guitar ctr, Flageolet left
     13:34 Nasal Chorus right central
     14:00 Organ Chord central left
     15:00 Tamborine more prominent
15:29 Bell left, Organ central Bell right Organ left
16:44 Bass Guitar left & right Bass from left removed
     17:02 Acoustic guitar strum added
17:25 Bass riff left and right Bass riff central
18:20 Organ chords left no organ, extended section
19:20 Grand piano pans left to right Piano just right, synth added
     19:43 Pipe Organ improved
     21:00 Glockenspiel tune added
     22:36 Tubular Bells Different Bells!!!!
23:47 Only choir and guitar remain Tune continues to 24:09
24:09 Guitar only, heavy reverb Guitar now right, no reverb

Pt2 1:34 no mandolin mandolin high notes to 1:42
2:00 Guitar left, electric right Acoustic right, no electric

In the original Quad mix from 1974 it starts a lot quieter and the
piano lead at 19'20" is doubled up so it is on both the right and the
  left at the same time.

Pt2 of TB, the remix has a 7" break before the Sailor's Hornpipe.

The model airplane by Tom and Mike at Abbey Road is only on the
original quad mix and the first pressing of the picture disc.

Ommadawn album mix notes

[Notes from Morten Due Joergensen (gandalf@diku.dk)]

I have now listened carefully to both the [regular CD and Boxed CD]
"versions" of Ommadawn part two, and they are in fact NOT identical.
There are a few differences in the stereo field, undoubtedly as a result
of the quad mixing for Boxed...

Time Ommadawn CD Boxed CD Version
    ------ ------------------------------ ----------------------------
Pt1 End Drums ? Drums go forever
  Pt2 5:23 High-pitched guitar/mandolin High-pitched guitar always
jumps between the channels in both channels (to 7:11)
      ?:?? - Seems to lose 0:02 somewhere
                                            in here versus the original
10:11 Flute on right side only Flute in both channels (to 11:50)
13:29 Male chorus in right channel Male chorus in both channels
	    only; very faint
